Exponential backoff

Waiting longer after each failed attempt, usually doubling the wait.

What it means

When a call fails for a reason that may pass, retrying instantly and repeatedly makes things worse. Exponential backoff waits 1 second, then 2, then 4 and so on, up to a cap, so a struggling service gets room to recover.

How Onekey handles it

For 500 and 502, Onekey recommends waiting 1 s, 2 s, 4 s with a little jitter and giving up after 3 or 4 tries. Those calls were refunded, so the retry costs nothing extra. Never retry 400, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405 or 422: they fail the same way every time.
