What happens to a request

Five steps, in the order they really happen.

  1. Request

GET /v1/{platform}/{endpoint} with your key. The same shape of call for every platform.

  2. Cache check

A recent answer is returned at once and marked cached. It costs nothing.

    free if cached
  3. Fetch

Otherwise the public source is fetched. No logins, nothing behind a paywall.

  4. Map

Fields are renamed onto the unified schema. A field the source lacks is null, never missing.

  5. Respond

You get the same four keys back: success, data, metadata, error. Credits are charged only for a good result.

    refunded if it fails

Different platforms, one shape

Each platform names the same thing differently. Onekey maps every source onto shared field names, and a field a platform does not have comes back as null, never missing.

What a month costs

Set how many profiles you look up, how many platforms you check for each one and how often lookups repeat. Prices are the credit prices from the docs and the packs above; nothing here is a measurement of a real month.

How many different people or accounts you look up in a month.
How many platforms you check for each profile. Each one is a lookup.
Lookups that repeat something fetched recently. They come from cache and cost nothing.
Platform mix

About 1.5 credits per lookup on this mix. Hard-to-reach platforms are TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, LinkedIn, Reddit, Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube.

Onekey, per month$6.423,566 credits a month, covered by the Starter pack. Your one-time 1,000 free credits are not counted here.
  • Starter5,000 credits$9
  • Builder30,000 credits$39
  • Growth150,000 credits$149
  • Scale500,000 credits$449
How this is calculated
  1. Lookups: 1,259 profiles × 3 platforms = 3,777. 35% are repeats served from cache at 0 credits, so 2,455 are billed.
  2. Credits per lookup: 50% hard-to-reach × 1.55 + 50% open × 1.36 = 1.453. Each figure is the average credit price of the profile endpoints on those platforms in our catalog (10 hard-to-reach, 46 open; 1,995 endpoints in all). Every endpoint's exact price is on its docs page and in every response.
  3. Cost: 2,455 × 1.453 = 3,566 credits. The smallest pack that covers it is Starter (5,000 credits for $9), which is $0.0018 per credit; 3,566 × $0.0018 = $6.42. Credits never expire, so an unused remainder carries over.
  4. Cache hits: 1,322 lookups at 0 credits would otherwise have cost about 1,921 credits, $3.46 at the same pack rate. Not-found results are free too, and failed calls are refunded.

Questions

Plain answers about credits, data and the fine print.

Getting started

What is Onekey?

Onekey is one API for public data from hundreds of platforms. You send the same kind of request with one key and always get the same JSON shape back, whichever platform answered. Swap two words in the path to switch platforms; your code stays the same.

How do I get started?

Sign up, copy your API key, and make your first call from any language over plain HTTPS. Every account starts with 1,000 free credits, no card needed. The quickstart takes about a minute.

Is it free to try?

Yes, with no card and no time limit. 1,000 free credits cover the open-platform endpoints. Hard-to-reach platforms (X, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and others marked on their page) need a verified email and a purchased pack. When you need more, buy a pack; there is no subscription and nothing to cancel.

Do you have SDKs or an MCP server?

The hosted MCP server is available now: connect any MCP client with your API key (the address is a placeholder until the public domain is announced). Python, TypeScript and Go libraries are coming soon. Today the API is plain HTTPS and JSON, and the docs ship an OpenAPI file, llms.txt and a Markdown version of every page, so any language or agent can use it right now.

Credits and pricing

How do credits work?

You buy credits up front and spend them per call. Every endpoint has a flat price in credits, shown in the docs and inside every response. Prices run from 1 to 8 credits: simple lookups on open platforms cost 1, and searches, lists and hard-to-reach platforms usually cost 5. No subscriptions, no minimums.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits stay in your account for as long as it is open and in good standing, whether you use them next week or next year. Free credits have no cash value and credits cannot be moved between accounts.

Are cache hits free?

Yes. When the answer comes from our cache you pay nothing, and the response tells you it was cached. Repeat lookups are the cheapest thing you can do. The one exception is a very large cached response (over 100 KB), which costs 0.2 credit.

Do I pay for failed or not-found results?

No. If a call fails on our side or the source does not answer, the credits go straight back to your balance. A record that does not exist is free too. A search that succeeds but finds nothing is a real answer and costs the endpoint price. You pay for answers, not for attempts.

Is pricing the same in every country?

Yes for now: prices are in USD and every pack costs the same wherever you buy it. Regional pricing for India is planned; when it is live the pricing page will show the price for you.

Can I get a refund on a pack?

Unused or mostly unused packs can be refunded within a short window after purchase; used credits are not refundable except where the law says otherwise. Automatic credit refunds for failed calls happen on their own. The details are in the refund policy.

Data and reliability

Where does the data come from?

From public pages and public APIs: no logins, nothing behind a paywall. Many platforms have their own open APIs; for some hard-to-reach platforms we work with specialist data providers. Either way you get the same clean schema.

What does beta mean?

Beta marks endpoints not yet verified against the live source, so fields or availability may change. The label is shown on every endpoint page, and failed beta calls are refunded like any other.

How fresh is the data?

Every response says whether it was fetched just now or served from cache, and how old it is. Profiles stay fresh longer than searches and live feeds; each endpoint page states its own window. If a source is briefly down, you get the last good copy, marked as such.

Are there rate limits?

Yes, a per-key limit that comfortably covers steady use. When you hit it, the response tells you how long to wait. Bigger allowances are available on request: write to us.

Legal

Is it legal to use?

Onekey returns public data only: we never log in to platforms, use borrowed accounts or bypass paywalls. How you use the data is governed by our terms, the source platforms' rules and the law that applies to you, so read both before you build. The public data notice explains what we access and how takedowns work.

Can someone ask for their data to be removed?

Yes. Individuals and platforms can ask us to stop returning specific public data, and we purge cached copies and block the item. Customers are expected to honour those takedowns too.

Enterprise

Is there an enterprise plan?

Yes, on request. Enterprise covers larger volumes, committed pricing, support terms and, where needed, a written uptime commitment. Tell us what you need and we will put a proposal together.

Start with 1,000 free credits

No card. Your first call takes about a minute.
