Refund (failed call)
Giving credits back when a call does not deliver an answer.
What it means
A metered API has to decide who pays when the source fails. Charging for errors punishes the caller for the provider’s problem.
How Onekey handles it
On Onekey the price is reserved first and refunded when the call ends without data: a record not found (404), a source failure or timeout (502), and invalid parameters (422, rejected before any charge). A bad key (401) and a rate limit (429) are free as well. An empty list from a search that succeeded is billed, because it is a real answer.
