Honest null

Returning null for a value that is unknown instead of a made-up zero, false or empty string.

What it means

When a source has no value for a field, an API can quietly substitute a default: 0 for a count, false for a flag, an empty string for text. Those defaults are indistinguishable from real values and cause wrong conclusions. An honest null says the value is unknown.

How Onekey handles it

A field an endpoint maps is present in every item, as a value or as null. null means unknown, never zero or false. Onekey does not derive a value from another field to fill a gap. A field the endpoint does not map at all is absent. A record the source says does not exist is 404, not an item full of nulls.
